Hampden gold filled hunter (#0503115)
The Hampden Watch Co was founded in 1876 and was mainly based in Canton, Ohio. It was the first American watch company to produce a 23 jewel watch and was one of the main producers of highly jewelled movements in a number of different sizes. The company was eventually sold to the Russians in the 1930's and formed the basis of the watch making industry in that country.

Wow !! just take a look at the fancy engraving on this case and you just know this is a quality watch. The rear of the case also displays a similar level of craftsmanship.
Push down on the top button and the watch face itself is revealed. This is a simple elegant white dial with roman numerals and a sunken seconds dial at six o'clock. The hands are blue steel "American spade" and are lever set.
Hampden is beautifully inscribed beneath twelve o'clock.
The
case is a 10k gold filled "Philadelphia watch case co. guaranteed 20 years"
which
is inscribed on the inside of the dust cover along with the serial number
8947623.
The movement bears the inscription Hampden, Canton O and the serial number 1175994 dating this watch to 1888. This movement looks to be a size 6 and is probably a 7 jewel. It is very clean & tidy.
This watch is running strong & keeps good time.
All in all a lovely example of a Hampden gold filled hunter case pocket watch which can be yours for only £205 !!!
